Art Education Weekend Is Here!

The Conference is just one week away. We are all so looking forward to joining you on an “Art JOURNEY”  the weekend of November 14th at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Museum Drive, Montgomery, AL 36117.

Get ready for great workshops, sharing food, ideas and amazing conversations all super-charged weekend long.

Call all your friends and colleagues and remind them that it’s not too late to register for Alabama’s signature art education event. There’s just no better time to learn new and exciting projects and techniques for the art room, plus get CEU credits.

This year we are also so genuinely excited to host Jessica Balsley, the creator of the pioneering  “the Art of Ed” blog and revolutionary online art education professional development platform, as our very special keynote speaker.

On Friday at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, every participant will have the opportunity to attend all 6 workshops.  The format will be a round robin set up and we know you will love them all.  The workshops will include 5 hands-on workshops and a museum tour.  The 5 classroom friendly hands-on workshops will include: Fast & Loose painting and color mixing, Silkscreen printing for the classroom, Bleach pen drawing techniques on paper and textiles, Sculptural workshop inspired by the Art for Life’s Sake Exhibit, and a Tim’s Tech Talk utilizing great art resources on the world wide web.

On Saturday at Montgomery Academy, participants will have the opportunity to attend 5 sessions from 8:30-3:00 plus visit with vendors.  Each hour session offers seven different workshops to choose from.  You will receive a packet at check-in on Friday morning so that you can plan what you’d like to attend on Saturday.  Plus you’ll be ready to hit the road or chill at the hotel by 3:30 on Saturday afternoon.

Artist’s Market

Conference attendees don’t forget the Artist’s Market! It’s an absolutely free opportunity to exhibit and sell your art and crafted items to all your art educator friends! There’s no fee for a table and items under $50 are welcome.  It’s fun to see what peers and colleagues are making, plus it’s a great way to pay for your expenses to attend the conference.

Please keep in mind that it will be the artist’s responsibility to man your table and handle all monetary transactions.  AAEA does not have the ability to make change, charge cards, etc.  Artists will need to decide what type of payment they wish to accept and handle all of that themselves.
