Mid-Winter AAEA Updates

Jelly Fish

In the midst of  February’s Snowpocalypse and wintery States of Emergency, it’s great to look back on October’s AAEA Fall Conference at the beach. “Creativity on the Coast” was a truly magical event. Art educators from all over Alabama converged on Orange Beach for an incredibly fun and productive weekend of workshops, awards, vendors, and all day activities. Rekindle memories or experience the conference vicariously by checking out over 400 terrific photographs on our Facebook page.

You can also catch up on all the doin’s in the latest AAEA “Perspectives” newsletter? This issue includes must-read inspirational messages from AAEA Past Presidents Larry Gibson and Susie Davis and much more. It’s available to read or download.

The new year got off to a great start as the new AAEA Board rolled on at the January 11, 2014 meeting. New and returning officers are listed here.  If you are wondering what the duties of AAEA Board members actually are; you can read all about that here.

Do you know about the great new resource Ms. Anna Nichols and her crack-shot group of contributing authors have put together?  Managing The Art Classroom is a collection of conversations and advice by Alabama elementary, middle and high school art teachers. It’s an excellent website with mentoring, advice and general art classroom management forums for Alabama art teachers.

Anna is also trying to compile a complete list of the art teachers across the state and where they teach. These numbers are fascinating!
