2020 Fall Conference

This year’s Fall Conference, “Illuminate, Ignite, Excite!” will be held November 13 – 14, 2020 at Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL.

The sole purpose of our theme this year is to reengage and reignite our passion as art educators. The conference workshops will be Friday at Spring Hill College, and the big awards dinner will be Friday evening at The Admiral Hotel.

Guest Speaker

We have invited an exceptional guest speaker to our conference this year to expand upon why we teach art and why the arts matter (more now than ever). The Instagram Famous, Netflix ‘star,’ Expert Blogger, and Art Educator extraordinaire, Cassie Stephens has agreed to be our guest presenter and keynote speaker. Cassie will be leading two Needle Felting workshops and two Weaving workshops.

Conference EXTRA!

In addition to the conference, we are also holding a juried art exhibition for all attendees. The juried Art Exhibition will be displayed in Spring Hill Colleges’ Eichold Gallery from October 5 – November 14. This show will take place in conjunction with the AAEA 2020 Fall Conference, and the closing reception with awards will take place on the last day of the conference. Cash awards will be given for Best of Show, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, and Peoples’ Choice. All mediums are welcome with the exception of video. Online submission will be open from April 1st – July 31st.

We are also starting the call for workshop presenters. The workshops can encompass anything from lessons you would like to share/demonstrate to workshops that are solely for personal gain and growth as an artist. Hands-on ‘make and take’ workshops will be longer this year with two-hour time slots, however we will have a few slots for hour long presentations. Call for Presentations ends August 1st, 2020. You will be notified by August 31, 2020 via email if your Presentation Proposal has been accepted.

Submit your proposal!

*Just a reminder, even if your Presentation Proposal is accepted, you will also need to register for the conference. Registration will be open by May 1st.
